Evgeny Konnov

The Clavis International Music Festival has become a launching platform for many outstanding young musicians whose careers have flourished after their first successes with us. One of the most remarkable examples is our long-standing friend of the festival, Evgeny Konnov, the First Prize Winner of the inaugural Clavis Competition in 2017.

Within just a few years, he has established himself as one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation. Today, he serves as President of the Jury of the Clavis competitions, mentors young musicians, and is Co-Founder of the Clavis-MICA Festival (Music International Concert Award). Together with the festival team, he is committed to creating new international concert opportunities for exceptional young artists and supporting the next generation of professional musicians.

Following his receipt of the 60th Art Prize of the City of Augsburg, Evgeny Konnov was appointed Artist in Residence at the Staatstheater Augsburg for the 2020/21 season. His debut recording, featuring the piano sonatas of the Catalan composer Antonio Soler, was released by Naxos in 2022 and received widespread critical acclaim from the international music press.

He has performed in many of the world's most prestigious concert venues, including the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, the Palau de la Música Catalana and L'Auditori in Barcelona, the Euskalduna Concert Hall in Bilbao, the Auditorio Manuel de Falla in Granada, the Auditorio de Tenerife, the Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg, The Playhouse in Durban, the Gasteig in Munich, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, Casa da Música in Porto, Salle Cortot in Paris, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, the Vienna Konzerthaus, Flagey in Brussels, Act City Hamamatsu in Japan, as well as concert halls throughout the Netherlands, Poland, Malta, Uzbekistan, and Morocco.

As both an internationally acclaimed concert pianist and a dedicated mentor, Evgeny Konnov continues to inspire young musicians and actively shapes the artistic vision of the Clavis-MICA Festival.
